Questions & Answers

Answers to the most common questions about ordering, delivery, dietary requirements, pricing and our services across Cornwall and Devon.

Ordering & Delivery

You can order online through our website, call us on 01209 206255, or email info@saltwind.catering. We recommend placing orders at least 48 hours in advance for standard catering, and 5–7 days in advance for large events, weddings, or hog roasts.
We deliver across all of Cornwall and Devon. Whether you are in Bude, the Lizard, Exeter, or Plymouth, we cover the entire South West peninsula.
It depends on your location. Deliveries close to Redruth may have no charge. Further across Cornwall or into Devon, a mileage supplement applies. We'll always confirm the full cost when you get a quote — no surprises.
It depends on the service. Delivered buffets are typically chilled and ready to serve at room temperature, packed in insulated containers. Hot buffets are delivered hot in thermal units and are ready to eat on arrival. Hog roasts and BBQs are cooked fresh on-site, not pre-delivered. Holiday home platters are chilled and come with simple serving instructions.
We agree a delivery window when you book. We aim to arrive 30–60 minutes before your serving time. We'll confirm an estimated time in advance and call you if anything changes on the day.
Minimums vary by service — buffets require 20 guests, corporate catering has none, BBQ and hog roast require a minimum of 20 (delivered) or 50 (on-site), giant pan 50 guests, holiday home delivery £30. Get in touch and we'll work out what fits your group.
For standard catering orders, we recommend at least 48 hours notice. For large events, weddings, and hog roasts, we suggest booking 5–7 days in advance or as early as possible, especially during summer months when we get very busy.
Same-day orders aren't guaranteed but we always try. For emergency and welfare deployments we're 24/7. For standard events — call us on 01209 206255 and we'll tell you what's possible.
Yes — amendments to guest counts and menu choices are fine up to 7 days before the event (when the balance is invoiced). After that we can usually still flex small numbers but the menu is locked. See cancellation policy below for refund tiers. Full details in our Terms & Conditions.
We aim to reply to all catering enquiries within 48 hours, and usually much sooner during the working week. If your event is urgent, call us on 01209 206255 and we'll talk it through immediately.

Yes, holiday cottage catering is one of our specialities. We deliver freshly prepared meals, cream teas, Cornish hampers, and breakfast packs directly to holiday properties across Cornwall and Devon.
Yes, we provide full wedding catering across Cornwall and Devon. From intimate receptions to large celebrations, we offer menus including hog roasts, BBQs and buffets. For hog roasts and BBQs our cook team cooks live on-site and guests come up and help themselves — it is relaxed and self-serve, not a plated sit-down meal. We do not provide waiting staff or table service.
Yes, hog roasts and BBQs are among our most popular services. Our cook team arrives with all equipment, sets up, cooks live on-site and packs down afterwards. Guests come up to the hog or the BBQ and help themselves — cook team included, self-serve for guests.
Yes, we provide corporate catering across Cornwall and Devon. From working lunches and boardroom buffets to large conference catering and team away days.
Yes, we have extensive experience providing catering for film and TV crews on location across the South West.
No — we don't currently offer halal-certified catering. Our menus accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and pork-free requirements, but we are not a halal kitchen.
We don't run a licensed bar or supply alcohol — most venues handle that separately, and we're happy to coordinate timing with your bar supplier. Hot and soft drinks can be included as part of your catering (for example a continuous hot-drinks station for conferences) where it suits the brief.
No — we don't run a hire service for tableware, crockery, glassware or linen. For cook-team-on-site events we bring serving equipment for the food; guest place settings are usually arranged via the venue or a dedicated hire company.
No — we're a cook team, not a front-of-house team. Our crew cooks the food and sets it out at the catering station; guests come up and help themselves. We don't provide silver-service waiters, table clearance or bar staff.
Yes. We've worked with National Grid and utility companies on emergency welfare deployments — 24/7 for those. For standard events, we regularly confirm bookings within 48 hours and welcome same-week requests.
Yes, we offer traditional Cornish cream teas for delivery. Each cream tea includes freshly baked scones, Cornish clotted cream, strawberry jam, and tea.
Our hampers feature locally sourced Cornish produce including artisan cheeses, Cornish cured meats, fresh bread, chutneys, biscuits, and other regional specialities.

Dietary & Allergens

Absolutely. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and pork-free diets.
We follow strict allergen management procedures. We can provide detailed allergen information for any dish. Tell us about any allergies when you order so we can plan your menu accordingly.
Yes — allergen information for any dish is available on request. Tell us about any allergies or intolerances when you get in touch and we'll advise on safe options.
Yes. Gluten-free options are covered across most menus. Honest disclosure: our kitchen handles gluten daily, so while we take cross-contamination seriously, we can't guarantee 100% trace-free preparation. For coeliac guests please tell us when you enquire so we can advise on the safest options and you can make an informed call.
We take nut allergies seriously and can prepare dishes without nut ingredients. Honest disclosure: our kitchen handles nuts (including peanuts and tree nuts) regularly, so we can't rule out trace cross-contamination. For severe nut allergies we recommend the guest carries their EpiPen or prescribed medication. Tell us when you enquire and we'll advise.
Yes. Dedicated vegan and vegetarian menus available across all services. We don't just pull the meat out — plant-based dishes are planned and prepared as a proper menu in their own right.
Yes. Tell us your guests' dietary needs when you enquire and we'll build the menu around them. Catering for mixed groups with multiple requirements at the same event is normal for us.
