Nothing worse than turning up to an event as a vegetarian and being handed a plate of wilted salad and a bread roll. At Salt Wind Catering, our vegan and vegetarian options are proper food — not a grudging add-on. We build plant-based menus that meat eaters enjoy just as much.

What We Offer

Our vegetarian and vegan collection includes dedicated platters, not just the meat version with the meat taken out. Roasted vegetable and hummus wraps, falafel and tahini platters, butternut squash and goat's cheese tarts, Mediterranean antipasti with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes and olives, and seasonal salads with grains, nuts and fresh herbs.

Our vegan hot platters include vegetable curry with coconut rice, mushroom stroganoff, butternut squash mac and cheese made with cashew cream, and seasonal vegetable tagine. These aren't afterthoughts — they're dishes we'd put on any menu regardless of dietary labels because they're genuinely delicious.

BBQ & Live Cooking Options

Our BBQ catering includes dedicated vegetarian and vegan options cooked on a separate section of the grill. Halloumi and pepper skewers, chargrilled corn on the cob, stuffed portobello mushrooms, and vegetable kebabs with chimichurri.

Our giant pan catering offers naturally vegan options — a vegetable paella with saffron, peppers, artichokes, and broad beans is spectacular cooked live in a massive pan.

Mixed Events — Getting the Balance Right

Most events have a mix of dietary requirements. We always include substantial vegetarian and vegan options as standard — not a side dish, but a proper part of the menu.

For weddings where the couple are vegetarian or vegan but guests aren't, we can design a menu that's entirely plant-based without anyone feeling like they're missing out.

Allergen Awareness

Vegan and vegetarian requirements often overlap with other dietary needs — gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free. We manage all allergens carefully, label everything clearly, and provide detailed ingredient lists on request. We hold a 5-star food hygiene rating and full NCASS accreditation. For pricing, see our 2026 catering cost guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is all your vegan food made in a separate kitchen?

We prepare vegan and vegetarian food with care to avoid cross-contamination. All plant-based items are clearly labelled and stored separately. While we are not an exclusively vegan kitchen, we follow strict food safety protocols and our 5-star hygiene rating reflects our standards.

Can you cater a fully vegan event?

Yes. We can provide an entirely plant-based menu from start to finish including starters, mains, sides, and desserts. Our vegan grazing platters, vegetable paella, and plant-based buffet options are popular even with non-vegan guests.

Do the vegan options cost more?

No. Our vegan and vegetarian platters are priced the same as our standard options. In fact, plant-based platters can sometimes work out slightly cheaper depending on the menu choices you make.

What vegan options work best for weddings?

Our vegetable paella cooked live in a giant pan is a showstopper. Vegan grazing platters with hummus, falafel, roasted vegetables, and flatbreads work beautifully for drinks receptions. For evening food, our plant-based buffet platters give guests plenty of choice without anyone feeling like an afterthought.
