Our Story
Good Food, Honestly Done
We started Salt Wind in Redruth with one idea: cook proper food and turn up when you say you will. That still covers it. We do film and TV sets, coastal weddings, corporate lunches and everything in between — same food, same standards, no shortcuts.
Our meat comes from RJ Trevarthen in Penryn, our bread from Prima Bakeries in Scorrier. Across buffets, hog roasts, charcoal BBQs and giant pan catering, we source locally where we can and prepare everything fresh.
The NHS and National Grid use us for emergency welfare feeding because we actually show up and get on with it. No layers, no surprises. The person who answers the phone is the person at your event.
Who We Are
Meet the Team
Salt Wind is family-run. Every event is overseen by the people who built this business — not passed off to agency staff. The team you speak to is the team that cooks your food.
Chef Jago
Modern Artisan
Kitchen
"New Cornish. Street-smart. Always seasonal."
Jago brings a modern eye to Cornish produce — building boards and platters that look as good as they taste. His thing is pairing the unexpected: local cheddar with Cornish honey, cured meats with foraged garnishes. Nothing fussy. Nothing forgettable.
Chef Lowen
Coastal Soul
Kitchen
"Joyful. Communal. Built around the table."
Lowen (Cornish for 'joyful') believes food is at its best when it's shared. Seafood pulled from Cornish waters, whole hog roasts over live fire, big spreads for groups of all sizes — Lowen's cooking is warm, generous, and made for gathering.
Chef Kitto
Old School Pro
Kitchen
"Every cut traced. Every standard met. No exceptions."
Kitto is the elder statesman of the Salt Wind kitchen. He knows every farmer and producer by name, demands complete traceability, and runs the highest food hygiene standards as a matter of personal pride. When the event matters most, Kitto is on it.
Senara
Pastry & Sweet Specialist
Kitchen
"From cream teas to celebration cakes — made by hand."
Senara runs the sweet side of the kitchen. Cream teas, dessert grazing boards, birthday cakes, and afternoon tea spreads are her domain. She sources Cornish clotted cream, works with local honey producers, and never uses a packet mix.
Elowen
Recipe Developer & Food Writer
Kitchen
"Rooted in Cornwall. Written for your kitchen."
Elowen (Cornish for 'elm tree') grew up in a fishing village near Falmouth and learned to cook from her grandmother's handwritten recipe cards. She develops and writes all the Cornish recipes for Salt Wind Catering — always seasonally driven, always achievable at home. If a recipe calls for a rare ingredient, Elowen rewrites it.
Morwenna
Senior Event Coordinator
Events
"The one who makes the plan — and the backup plan."
Morwenna has coordinated hundreds of events across Cornwall and Devon. From 20-person birthday buffets to 300-guest corporate dinners, she's the person who makes sure every detail is covered before the team arrives. Meticulous, calm, and never caught off-guard.
Demelza
Weddings & Private Events
Events
"Specialising in the moments that matter most."
Demelza focuses exclusively on weddings and large private events. She works closely with couples from first enquiry to service — handling tastings, menu builds, dietary requirements, and day-of logistics. Her calm on the day is her superpower.
Tristan
Head of Logistics & Delivery
Logistics
"On time, every time. Anywhere in Cornwall."
Tristan runs the logistics operation — route planning, equipment, cold-chain management, and delivery across the full Cornwall and Devon service area. He knows every back road from Bude to the Lizard, and he's never missed a delivery window.
Jenna
Customer Service & Bookings
Front of House
"First call to final confirmation — she's got it."
Jenna is the first voice you hear when you call Salt Wind. She handles all initial enquiries, quote requests, and booking confirmations. Fast, friendly, and knows the menus inside out — so she can answer most questions without putting you on hold.
