Salt Wind Catering feeds film and TV crews across Cardiff and South Wales, one of the UK’s busiest HETV hubs, home to Wolf Studios Wales (Doctor Who, His Dark Materials), Seren Stiwdios and BBC Roath Lock. We cross the Severn to feed the crew, with a fully self-contained mobile kitchen and a schedule built around your call sheet.
Whether you are on a stage block at Wolf Studios or on a city or coast location across the Vale of Glamorgan, we plan access, load-in and hot-food logistics around the shoot, and build travel and accommodation into the quote up front.
In August 2026 we did exactly that in the Brecon Beacons, a two-day shoot at Llandovery and then the Llyn y Fan Fach car park beneath the Black Mountain, 250 road miles from our Cornish kitchen, with no venue, no mains power and no water at either site. How that job ran, service by service.

Hot food at the unit base
On a normal day we're set up at the unit base and cast and crew eat directly from us, self service from the counter. Hot boxes go out to set on a unit-move day.

Slow-roasted Cornish pork, carved at the counter. Crackling, apple sauce, fresh rolls, a wrap-day favourite.
BBQ
Burgers, sausages and chicken, several proteins in a round, with the sides alongside.

Yes, unit catering is a travel-to-set business and we cover Cardiff and South Wales. Crossing the Severn is a planned part of the job; travel and accommodation are calculated up front from your unit-base postcode and confirmed in writing in your quote, with no surprises on invoice.
Yes. The kitchen is fully self-contained, gas, charcoal, power, water and waste. Cliff, beach and island bases across the Vale and the Glamorgan coast are all covered.
Hog roast, BBQ, giant-pan dishes and street food, served at the unit base, plus full unit-base hot meals, call-time breakfasts, standby snacks and an all-day craft table.
Send the dietary breakdown with your crew numbers and it is costed into the quote. There is no dietary surcharge. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergen-aware portions are cooked as part of the main service rather than as an afterthought, and they are labelled at the counter so the crew can serve themselves without asking. Our kitchen handles nuts, gluten and sesame daily. For severe nut, peanut, coeliac or sesame allergies we cannot guarantee a completely trace-free environment, so please tell us at enquiry stage. We will advise honestly, and we ask that the guest keeps any prescribed medication on hand.
