Delivery & Returns

This page sets out the delivery and returns information for orders placed with Salt Wind Catering, 37 Fore Street, Redruth, Cornwall TR15 2AE. It forms part of the pre-contractual information we are required to provide under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
1. Delivery Areas
We deliver throughout Cornwall and serve many parts of Devon. Our primary delivery territory is Cornwall; Devon deliveries are available on request and subject to confirmation at the time of enquiry.
For on-site catering services (BBQ, hog roast, giant pan), we travel throughout Cornwall and Devon to your event venue. Travel beyond these areas may be possible — please contact us to discuss.

We are a quote-driven business for all areas outside Cornwall. Delivery prices for Plymouth, Devon, and beyond are confirmed at the time of enquiry. There is no live checkout rate for these areas — please submit an enquiry and we will come back with a delivery price promptly.
3. Delivery Timescales
We are a made-to-order food business. All catering is prepared fresh for your event. Timescales depend on the type of service:
- Delivered buffets and platters: We deliver on the date and at the time specified in your order or booking confirmation. Please place orders at least 48 hours before your required delivery date. Next-day delivery is available for many products — see individual product pages for details.
- On-site catering (BBQ, hog roast, giant pan): We arrive at your venue at the agreed set-up time stated in your booking confirmation, typically 1–2 hours before service begins.
- Holiday home deliveries and hampers: Delivered on your chosen date at the selected time slot. Please order at least 24 hours in advance.
If we are unable to fulfil your order on the requested date (for example due to availability), we will contact you as soon as possible to agree an alternative date or a full refund.
4. Your Right to Cancel
4.1 Perishable food items (most orders)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, Regulation 28(1)(d), the 14-day statutory right to cancel does not apply to contracts for the supply of goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly.
All fresh food items we supply — including delivered buffets, platters, BBQ and hog roast catering, holiday home meals, and fresh hampers — are perishable goods. The 14-day right to cancel does not apply to these products.
Instead, our cancellation terms (set out in Section 7 of our Terms & Conditions) apply:
- 28 days or more before the event: Full refund of any payment made beyond the 30% non-refundable deposit.
- 14–28 days before the event: 50% of the total order value is charged; the remainder is refunded.
- Less than 14 days before the event: 100% of the total order value is charged.
4.2 Non-perishable items
For any non-perishable items (for example: equipment hire, certain sealed and shelf-stable products), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision to cancel by a clear statement (for example by post, phone, or email — see Section 8 below). You may use the model cancellation form below, but this is not obligatory.
If you cancel, we will reimburse all payments received from you, including delivery costs (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days after the day on which we receive the goods back from you.

6. Allergen Information (Food Information Regulations 2014)
Salt Wind Catering is an event catering business. We comply with the Food Information Regulations 2014. Full allergen information for any dish or product is available on request — please ask us at the time of ordering and we will provide details before your event or delivery.
7. Complaints
If you have a complaint about any aspect of our service or a product you have received, please contact us as soon as possible using the details below. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and to resolve them within 14 days. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you may refer it to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme or to the courts.
