What is crew catering?

Crew catering feeds a working crew on their own site, around their working day, hot breakfast before call, hot lunch in the middle of the shift, food that holds for staggered breaks. Salt Wind Catering feeds film and TV units, utility and contractor teams, emergency services and event crews across Cornwall and Devon, cooking on site from a self-contained mobile kitchen or delivering hot boxed meals ready to serve.

Fed properly, without stopping the job

A crew is not a party. Nobody has time to queue twice, the break is as long as the schedule says it is, and the site usually has no power, no water and no kitchen. That is the job we are set up for: self-serve lines the crew moves through fast, dietary versions labelled so nobody has to ask, and a kitchen that brings everything it needs, gas, power, water, waste and refrigeration.

We have catered 602+ events across Cornwall & Devon since 2024 and hold a 5.0★ rating from 63 reviews. The crews below are the ones we feed, each links to the page that covers it properly.

Crew catering FAQs

What is crew catering?
Feeding a working crew on their own site, timed to their schedule, not a party, not a venue, no front-of-house. Hot breakfasts before call, hot lunches in the working day, and food that holds for staggered breaks. We serve film and TV units, utility and contractor teams, emergency services, and event build crews across Cornwall and Devon, with film work travelling much further.
How is crew catering served?
Two ways: our self-contained mobile kitchen cooking on site, its own power, water and refrigeration, nothing needed from the location, or hot boxed meals delivered ready to serve where a kitchen on site is overkill. Both run self-serve lines the crew moves through fast; dietary requirements are labelled at the line or on the box.
What does crew catering cost?
It depends which crew: film and TV unit days start from £30 +VAT per head; delivered hot boxes and site feeding are priced per head against your headcount. Send numbers, dates and the site and we quote it, no hidden charges on the invoice.
Can you feed crews on sites with no power or water?
Yes, that is the normal case, not the exception. The kitchen carries its own gas, power, water, waste and refrigeration, and works clifftops, moorland, beaches and closed roads. Vehicle access and pitch space are the two things we confirm before the day.
Do you handle early calls, night work and long days?
Yes. Film units book us from breakfast call to wrap, utility and emergency crews get fed around shift patterns, and 24/7 welfare feeding runs through our emergency response service. Tell us the working pattern and we build the food around it.
How do dietary requirements work for a crew?
Send the dietary list with the headcount. Vegetarian and vegan are standard on every service; gluten-free, dairy-free and named allergies are covered and clearly labelled, as separate marked boxes on deliveries, and labelled at the line when we cook on site.
