Typical contracts we run

South West infrastructure has its own rhythm, rural geography, weather-driven schedules, and remote works compounds. We are built for it.

Fibre rollout crews

Long-duration splice and ducting crews: multi-week welfare across rural Cornwall and Devon.

Water main works

Trench gangs, repair teams, planned mains replacement programmes: early starts and weekend cover.

Power line maintenance

Distribution network crews, tree clearance teams, substation works.

Highway resurfacing

Night and early-shift resurfacing gangs, traffic management crews, bridge and drainage works.

Built for procurement

What approved supplier processes need to see, written down and sent across before you commit.

Single point of contact

One named account contact for the duration of the contract. No call centre, no reseller, no chasing.

Documented compliance

NCASS membership, hygiene rating, insurance certificates and RAMS sent direct to your approved supplier process.

Consistent quality

Same kitchen, same team, same suppliers across every shift. Quality does not drop in week three.

Transparent pricing

Fixed daily rate against confirmed numbers. Documented uplift terms. No invoice surprises at month-end.

Flexible contract arrangements

Welfare requirements vary by project. A two-day storm response looks nothing like a six-week fibre run. We structure the contract around the work, not the other way round.

Daily booking against a confirmed crew size. Weekly retainer with documented uplift for additional covers. Full project-duration agreement priced as a fixed package. Salt Wind Catering writes the terms plain and sends them across before you commit so procurement can sign off without back-and-forth.

Remote sites, no problem

No mains required

Off-grid mobile kitchen, gas, generators, our own water and waste management. We do not depend on site connections.

Compound or roadside

Set up in a contractor compound, a roadside layby, a council depot, or a farm gateway, wherever your works are operating from.

Rural Cornwall & Devon

Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor, the Lizard, the North Devon coast. We have catered welfare jobs across the South West peninsula.

Mobilises quickly

For approved-supplier contracts the kitchen rolls within 24 to 48 hours of contract sign-off, often faster for repeat clients.

300 road miles from the kitchen

Based in Redruth, Cornwall. Cornwall covered as standard; in Devon travel is free on orders over £1,500, or over £500 for Plymouth and Tavistock, and £1 per mile round-trip from Redruth below that.

Beyond Devon we take contractor sites anywhere within 300 road miles of the kitchen, the same area we publish for film and TV unit catering. The whole South West and South Wales, the South Coast, the Thames Valley and Home Counties, London, and north to Birmingham and Leicester. Multi-week out-of-area contracts are quoted with travel and crew accommodation itemised up front.

Procurement FAQs

How do you contract for multi-week utility projects?
Daily, weekly, or full project duration, whichever fits your procurement model. We can run a fixed daily rate against a confirmed crew size, with documented uplift terms for crew increases. All terms are confirmed in writing up front.
Can you cater early call times for road and infrastructure works?
Yes. 5am and 6am hot breakfast services are routine on highways and utility jobs. We arrive on site 60 to 90 minutes before service to set up the kitchen and have hot food ready for the foreman.
Do you need site facilities or can you operate fully off-grid?
Salt Wind Catering operates entirely off-grid. We bring our own gas, generators, water and waste management. We can set up in a roadside compound, a remote farm gateway, a council depot, or a temporary works site with no connections.
Are you set up for procurement-led contractor approval?
Yes. NCASS membership, 5-star food hygiene rating, £10 million public liability and employer liability cover, RAMS available, allergen procedure documented. Documentation packs are sent direct to your approved supplier process on request.
Do you charge for travel or delivery?
There is no travel charge anywhere in Cornwall on food we cook on site, and no minimum spend, standard pricing everywhere. Delivered buffets are free as far as Newquay and St Austell; past that there is a set delivery charge from £20 to £50 depending on distance, and delivery is free anywhere on orders over £500. Devon is quoted separately: travel is included on orders over £1,500 (£500 for Plymouth and Tavistock), and below that it is £1 per mile round-trip from our Redruth kitchen, always confirmed in writing before you commit. Those are our delivered-catering terms and they apply within Cornwall and Devon only. Beyond Devon, travel and any crew accommodation are quoted per deployment and agreed in writing before you commit, the per-mile rate does not apply to an out-of-area incident.
