A one-day television commercial for Charlie Bigham’s, produced by Academy Films, shot in Cadgwith Cove on the Lizard. Fifty crew, and nowhere to park a unit at the cove: the crew left their cars at the top of the hill and walked down. Salt Wind Catering pitched a self-contained mobile kitchen on the recreation ground at Ruan Minor, about 800 metres above the cove, cooking before sunrise, and drove every service down the lane to the cove in our van, hot-boxed, so the crew never left the location to eat. The production first asked for a food truck; what the job needed was a kitchen that could work where a truck could not.

Cooking on the recreation ground at Ruan Minor, the playing field above the village, eleven minutes after sunrise.

Main unit call. Breakfast rolls carried down to set, with the tea table alongside, coffee and hot water flasks, running from arrival.
- 12:15
Hot lunch, boxed at the top and brought down to the cove so the crew never left the location.
- 17:00
Afternoon tea, brought down the same way.

What we served
With the kitchen 800 metres up the hill from the crew, every service was hot-boxed and driven down the lane to the cove in our van, which is why the timings are fixed to the minute rather than to a servery.

- Hot lunch, boxed at the kitchen and delivered to the location for 12:15
- Afternoon tea to the cove at 17:00: sandwiches and rolls, cake, fruit and crisps
