Wedding Menu Ideas in Cornwall: Hog Roast, BBQ or Buffet?
Wedding catering in Cornwall runs from £7.95 per head for a delivered cold buffet up to £42 per head for our biggest cooked-on-site feast — and the price is the same as it would be on any other date. No wedding tier, no wedding surcharge. This guide walks through the four routes a Salt Wind Catering wedding menu can take, what each costs in 2026, and worked totals for 50, 80 and 120 guests.
Start with the service style, not the dishes
Every wedding menu we quote falls into one of two service styles. Live cooking — hog roast, charcoal BBQ or giant pan — where our cook team arrives three to four hours before service and cooks at your venue. Or drop-and-go — buffets and platters made fresh in our Redruth kitchen, delivered, set up and left for you and your guests to help yourselves.
We do not do silver service, plated meals or waiting staff, and that is a deliberate choice: the money goes into the food rather than a room full of front-of-house. Decide which style suits your day first — the dishes follow from there.
The delivered buffet route — from £7.95 per head
The most affordable way to feed a wedding. Cold finger buffets start at £7.95 per head, mixed and premium cold buffets run £13.25 to £19.25, and hot buffets start at £16.95. Everything on our buffet menus is made fresh, delivered to your venue and set up, with plates, cutlery and napkins included.
For a relaxed marquee or village-hall wedding, a fork buffet sits between the two — proper knife-and-fork food from £13.25 per head up to the £22 Roast Dinner Fork Buffet. Afternoon tea from £22 per head suits a daytime reception.
The live-cooked routes — hog roast, BBQ and giant pan
Hog roast — from £9.15 per head delivered or £11.00 cooked on-site. The Signature Cornish Hog Roast Feast, from £17.75 per head, is the wedding favourite.
Charcoal BBQ — from £9.95 per head cooked on-site. The two menus built for wedding breakfasts are the Signature Wedding BBQ Banquet at £38.25 per head and the Ultimate Cornish Land & Sea Feast at £42, both cooked at your venue by our team.
World BBQ & Roasts — seven cuisines from £22.45 to £29.95 per head: low-and-slow brisket, Caribbean jerk, pan-Asian, tandoori, Mexican fire-grill, a Greek spit roast, and the Cornish Festive Roast built for winter weddings.
Giant pan — paella and world dishes cooked live in the 90cm pan, from £12.25 per head. As much a spectacle as a meal.
Our meat comes from RJ Trevarthen in Penryn and our bread from Prima Bakeries in Scorrier. For live cooking we are fully self-contained — no venue kitchen needed, gazebos as standard — so remote and coastal venues are no problem.
What a wedding menu actually costs
The floor and the ceiling of the range, as event totals rather than per-head prices:
50 guests — £397.50 for the entry buffet · £1,912.50 for the Signature Wedding BBQ Banquet · £2,100 for the Land & Sea Feast
80 guests — £636 · £3,060 · £3,360
120 guests — £954 · £4,590 · £5,040
Most couples land somewhere between the two ends. Every figure is the same as it would be for a birthday or a corporate job on the same date — there is no wedding tier, and no premium for saying the word. The price you see is the price you pay.
The evening: the add-on everyone remembers
The Late Night Smokehouse, at £9.45 per head, goes on after the speeches — pulled pork buns, loaded dirty fries, bacon and sausage rolls. It is the most-requested evening food at wedding receptions we cater, and usually the most photographed part of the night.
Dietary needs and when to book
Every menu carries vegetarian and vegan options, and The Garden Grill — from £18.25 per head, cooked on a separate grill — is a dedicated veggie and vegan BBQ. Tell us about allergies at enquiry stage and we will confirm what is safe.
Four to eight weeks ahead is a sensible booking window, and summer dates go earlier. A 30% deposit holds your date. Get a wedding quote — we usually reply the same day during office hours. Full pricing, timings and what is included are on our wedding catering page.
