This is the operation on location
Every photo is a real Salt Wind Catering unit base — self-sufficient power and water, hot food served from dawn, feeding full crews across Cornwall & Devon (and further, via local suppliers). What you see is what turns up.
Transparent pricing
Most production caterers make you request a quote before you see a price. We publish ours: from £30 +VAT per head for a full shoot day.
Every quote is still built around your call sheet — crew size, shoot days, locations and dietary spread — so you start with a real number, not a black box.
Production Tiers

Salt Wind Catering provides film and TV catering on set — hot meals for cast and crew across Cornwall, Devon and the South West, from a Redruth base. Recent credits include Good Chaos’s Oddly Flowers.
For productions needing facilities as well as food, we work alongside JW Film Facilities — honey wagons, green rooms, makeup and costume, power and transport — so catering and full unit-base facilities come from local Cornwall teams.
The problem
Location caterers who can't handle a 6am call, a 60-person dietary sheet, or a scene change that moves lunch 3 hours.
What that costs
Unhappy crew. Slower days. A unit manager fielding complaints instead of doing their job.
Salt Wind Catering's fix
Hot meals to set on your schedule. Dietary sheets handled before day one. One number, one point of contact, no surprises.

On the ground in the South West & South Wales — and 300 miles in every direction
Unit catering travels to set. From our Cornwall base we feed crews anywhere inside a 300-mile radius — with the self-contained mobile kitchen, travel (and accommodation for multi-day shoots) is built into the quote up front.
We cover any shoot within 300 road miles of our Cornish kitchen. That takes in the whole South West and South Wales, the South Coast and Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey and London, the Thames Valley and Home Counties — including Pinewood, Shepperton, Leavesden and Elstree — and as far north as Birmingham and Leicester.
Filming at the far edge of the area — Leavesden, Elstree, Birmingham, west Kent or west Wales? We travel to you. The team bases up locally for the run and we source fresh produce, meat and bread through trusted suppliers near your unit base, so the food is made fresh on the day and supply runs stay short. Travel and crew accommodation are costed transparently per shoot and confirmed in writing before you commit.

How do you cater productions filming in Cornwall?
Film schedules change without warning — call times shift, locations move, numbers fluctuate. With named credits from two back-to-back ZDF films (42 shoot days) to Microsoft, Morrisons and Finisterre, scaling a unit base up or down is routine.
Built Around Your Schedule
Early call times, night shoots, last-minute changes — that is the job. Hot food and craft services whenever you need them, on your timetable.
Anywhere in the South West
Moors, clifftops, city sets — our mobile kitchens reach anywhere. Based in Redruth, we cover Cornwall, Devon and the wider South West.
All Dietary Needs Covered
Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free — clearly labelled for cast and crew. Send us your dietary sheet and we will handle the rest.
Hot Meals On or Off Site
Individual hot-boxed meals delivered to set, or our mobile kitchen set up on location. Whichever suits the production, we can do it.
International Productions Welcome
Salt Wind Catering is experienced in catering for international film crews working in Cornwall, including German television productions. We understand the logistics, the dietary variety, and the pace of location filming.
Recent Productions Filmed in Cornwall
Salt Wind Catering has provided on-set film crew catering for Good Chaos’s Oddly Flowers production, filming across Cornwall. We know how location productions work in Cornwall — early call times, remote locations, tight schedules, and the dietary variety that comes with a full cast and crew.
If your production is filming in Cornwall, Devon or the wider South West, get in touch. We will have a quote back to you the same day during office hours.
What meals and craft service do you provide on set?
A full shoot day — from £30 +VAT per head — runs from call-time breakfast through to wrap:
Hot Meals for Cast & Crew
- Hot breakfasts and fresh pastries from call time
- Hot lunches and dinners — multi-course where needed
- Seasonal ingredients from Cornish suppliers
All-Day Craft Services
The all-day craft station — maintained and restocked throughout the shoot.
- Premium filter coffee and tea station
- Fresh fruit, healthy snacks, and indulgent treats
- Constantly restocked and maintained by our team
Filming in the South West? Why a caterer on the ground beats trucking it in
Productions filming in Cornwall and Devon have a choice: book a caterer already on the ground in the South West, or travel one in from out of region. Based in Redruth and fully self-contained — gas, charcoal, power, water, waste and refrigeration — we reach remote clifftops, moorland, woodland and beach shoots with no mains power or venue kitchen needed. Crews also book us for corporate working lunches in pre-production and charcoal BBQ catering for wrap parties. Here is how being on the ground compares.
| Salt Wind Catering on the ground in the South-West | A nationwide caterer travelling in | |
|---|---|---|
| Response & lead time | Local team, quote usually back the same day during office hours; short-notice and last-minute schedule changes absorbed without a regional mobilisation. | Longer lead times; mobilising crew and kit across the country makes short-notice changes harder and costlier. |
| Knowledge of Cornish locations | First-hand knowledge of cliffs, beaches, moors, tides and access roads — we already know which lanes a unit base fits down and where the tide cuts a beach off. | Learning the locations on the day — access, tides and remote-site logistics are unfamiliar. |
| Road miles & carbon | Based in Redruth — short runs to set keep road miles down, which helps your production carbon report. | Long-haul travel and overnight accommodation add road miles to the production's carbon footprint. |
| Setup on remote / no-power sites | Self-contained mobile kitchens reach remote cliff, beach and moor locations with no mains power or water — gas, our own power, refrigeration, water and waste all carried. | Often reliant on venue power or mains hook-up; remote no-power sites can fall outside what a travelling kitchen is set up for. |
Production sustainability
Is your crew caterer genuinely sustainable?
Productions reporting against BAFTA albert need real numbers, not greenwash. Salt Wind Catering is an albert-aligned supplier: our kitchen is all-electric, run from an air-source heat pump, with no gas in the building. Food is made to order to cut waste, and packaging is compostable.
albert certifies productions, not caterers — so what you actually need from us is data you can report. We give you a per-event sustainability statement (PDF) listing the suppliers used, the packaging composition, the vehicle movement and our made-to-order policy — the supplier detail your production coordinator drops straight into albert's carbon footprint calculator. Ask for it on your quote request.
The supply chain is named and Cornish — bread from Prima Bakeries, meat from RJ Trevarthen, dairy and fish from Westcountry Food, and produce from Continental Fruit & Veg. Short local supply runs keep food miles and carbon down. More on our sourcing, energy and waste practices on our sustainability page.

“Free food!”
“We had big pans from salt wind for our wedding and the food was AMAZING. Mark and his team could not have been more helpful throughout the whole process and were a dream to work with. Nothing was ever too much trouble and so many people have said how lovely the food was. I’d book them for another event in a heart beat!”
“Just returned from my wifes 50th birthday party and the caterers were superb. Salt Wind Catering provided top quality food and plenty of it the party was for 50 people and we had plenty. Special mention for the amazing coleslaw and chicken they were totally scrumptious! Will definitely use again and can highly recommend Salt Wind thanks for your great service!!”
“Saltwind came up to sunny Devon for Jo’s 60th party. Everyone absolutely loved the Hog Roast. We had a party of 55 and we were still finishing off the food at 3am. Mark and the guys were great and worked so hard to keep everyone fed. The crackling was awesome! And we all loved the beef as well! Was everything we wanted and more ! Cheers to Saltwind!”
“Salt Wind Catering were a joy to work with - clear communication & excellent food. They catered for 100 people with different dietary requirements and were so professional. I would recommend to anyone.”

Standby catering is the quiet workhorse of a film day. It is not the hot lunch service that everyone queues for. It is the constantly-replenished hot drinks station, the fruit bowl that never empties, the bacon roll that appears at 10am when the focus puller is running on fumes.
